Iquitos: Only reachable by air
Iquitos sits in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon and is the largest city in the world with no road connection. From Germany, you reach Iquitos in two stages: first a long-haul flight to Lima, then a domestic flight to Iquitos. The total journey takes roughly 18 to 22 hours depending on your connection.
Stage 1: Germany → Lima

Round-trip flights from Germany to Lima typically cost between €800 and €1,200 depending on the season. Off-peak months (September–November, February–April) offer the cheapest fares. Stage 2: Lima → Iquitos
The domestic flight from Lima to Iquitos takes just 1 hour 45 minutes. LATAM Airlines operates 4–6 daily flights, with Sky Airline and JetSMART also serving the route. A one-way ticket costs between S/ 150 and S/ 500 (roughly €35–115). Allow at least 3 hours for your connection in Lima, as you'll need to clear immigration and switch to the domestic terminal.
Entry requirements for Germans
German citizens do not need a visa for Peru for stays up to 183 days. You only need a passport valid for at least 6 months upon entry. Yellow fever vaccination is strongly recommended for visiting Iquitos and the Amazon region — ideally at least 10 days before departure.
